|
|
Hi,
We are thinking of going to Scotland next and are a bit worried about the hills. We only have a 2L engine and would like more info please about where to avoid. You did mention hilly areas before on the old forum, but the data has gone. We managed Cornwall, High Peaks and Cumbria OK, but wondered how much bigger the hills are up there?
Thanks

depends where you go, Applecross near Skye is brilliant but I've only ever done it in a car. last time we were up that way we had an 'orrendous night at Gairloch dreadful gales and storms cracking in from the Atlantic
you could always stick to the glens, the great glen is a terrific run with nice sites along the way,
last few times we've been to Scotland we've tended to stick to the east coast, stay in Fife and you can use public transport to get you to Edinburgh and Perth,
or check out the south west - stay at Loch Lomond and get a commuter train to Glasgow - see Argyleshire, Tarbet,
all easy to tackle in your 2l camper, we did most of our Scotland trips in a 1.9td Fiat - similar van to yours, no problems even in the gales
or - you could try Brittany

I've just enrolled on the BBC site to start learning french. It's a free 12 week course, so should be fun.
I'll try Scotland first though, before braving the ferry. I've only ever been on a ferry twice and was sick both times.
Thanks Twooks

try Sturgeron and/or travel bands.
I don't get seasick [fatal last words] but I'm slightly claustrophobic, so take them when we go into the depths of the ship to our cabin.
OH thinks they're wonderful though
ps what french classes - are they free??? makes a nice change |

You can learn lots of basic different languages. And it's free
